To control the spread of COVID-19 infection, the state government has announced a state-wide lockdown from May 5.

The Police Commissionerate has made extensive arrangements in Twin City for the successful implementation of this lockdown.

The activities exempted during the lockdown period have been clearly mentioned in the rules provided by the government regarding the lockdown. The most important among these is that during this lockdown period, vegetables, groceries, along with shops selling other essential items will remain open from 6AM to 12PM, albeit in adherence to the COVID guidelines.

CP Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, Saumendra Priyadarshi said, “I have a special request to the citizens of the Twin City to avoid panic buying. Do not crowd the shops for unnecessary reasons. Because, the main goal of this lockdown is to stop the spread of the virus and the only way to do it is to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and avoid crowding, maintain social distancing and wear masks.

He further added, “I request the citizens of the Twin City again that they do not create a panic situation, especially on Monday and Tuesday or do not engage in panic buying.
