COVID positive report no more mandatory for admission into COVID Health facility

Union Health Ministry on Saturday revised the National Policy for admission of COVID patients in the hospital. The ministry informed that the requirement of a positive test for the COVID-19 virus is not mandatory for admission to a COVID health facility and no patients will be refused services on any count.

The Ministry in a letter also informed that this patients centric measure aims to ensure a prompt, effective and comprehensive treatment of patients suffering from COVID-19.

Moreover, the Ministry advised the Chief Secretary of State and Union territories to issue necessary orders and circulars, incorporating the new directions within three days.

This revised policy shall be enforced till replaced by an appropriate union policy. This latest directive applies to all States and Union Territories, hospitals under the Central Government, State Governments and Union territory administration including private hospitals managing COVID patients.
