Devotees gather in large number at Gujarat temple violating COVID protocols

A sea of the crowd was seen during COVID pandemic second wave after devotees gathered in large numbers at a village in Sanand in Ahmedabad, Gujarat violating COVID norms.

Women gathered in large numbers to offer prayers at the Baliyadev temple.

Police said that action has been taken against 23 people, including the Sarpanch of the village.

This procession comes at a time when the country, along with Gujarat is witnessing a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases.

As per the latest single-day numbers, Gujarat recorded 13,050 new cases and 131 deaths. India reported a record of 3,780 COVID-19 deaths and 3,82,315 fresh cases in the past 24 hours. As on May 5, the country recorded 34,87,229 active cases, 1,69,51,731discharged and 2,26,188 death cases.
