DRDO to set up seven oxygen plants in Odisha

To enhance the medical oxygen production to meet the rising demand, the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) decided to set up oxygen plants in Odisha. DRDO aims to set up 500 oxygen plants within three months.

As per sources, the plant will come up in seven districts of the states, which are Boudh, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Nayagarh, and Koraput. The National Highway Authority of India has been asked to start the construction work of the plants at two places – Boudh and Cuttack.

The oxygen plants are designed for a capacity of 1000litres per minute. The system can cater to 190 patients at a flow of 5 LPM and will charge 195 cylinders per day.
