Governor, CM wishes Poet Jayant Mahapatra a speedy recovery from COVID-19

Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik speedy recovery for the Padma Shri poet Jayant Mahapatra who has been suffering from COVID-19 is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at SCB Medical College and Hospital after testing positive to the virus.

Governor Ganeshi Lal wrote in the tweet, “Hon’ble Governor is a concern to learn about the hospitalization of the eminent poet and literature Padmashree Jayant Mohapatra after testing positive for COVID. He wishes speedy recovery and good health of poet Mohapatra.”

Mahapatra is the first Indian poet to win a Sahitya Akademi award for English poetry. He is the author of poems such as Indian Summer and Hunger, which are regarded as classics in modern Indian English literature.

CM Naveen Patnaik tweeted, “Eminent poet Shri Jayant Mohapatra was informed that he is being treated in hospital for COVID-19 infection. Wishing him a speedy recovery and good health.”
