Lockdown may continue in Odisha

The increasing rate of COVID-19 infection is worrying on daily basis, there is a strong possibility that the lockdown may be extended after May 19 in state, experts said on Thursday.

According to reports, out of 30 districts in Odisha, the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) has remained over 10 per cent in 29 for the last seven days. Kalahandi reported highest TPR at 46 per cent. Sambalpur at 38.4 per cent, Khurda 36.7 per cent, Angul 34.1 per cent, Boudh 31.2 per cent, and Sundergarh at 30.8 per cent.

Former Public Health Director, JK Tripathy said, “Government should not relax the restrictions and continue with the lockdown as the infection rate continues to remain high.”
