Indian Meteorological Department informed that Low-pressure area in the Andaman Sea lying east-central of Bay of Bengal will form into a cyclone ‘Yaas’ by Sunday and will move to towards Odisha and West Bengal.
The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena has asked all the concerned department and coastal district Collectors to ready to tackle the natural calamity and be ready for all necessity.
Commissioner Jena informed to media that, “the district administration are ready with their action plans for evacuation, shelter and other assistants. Various departments have been advised to mobilise required support to the districts, particularly undisrupted drinking water supply to the district, particularly undisrupted drinking water supply, early clearance of roads and restoration of infrastructure.”
“A draft plan formulated and disaster management troops like Fire, ODRAF, and NDRF has been to mobilise emergency rescue, ” He added.
A low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around May 22. It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 24. It would move north-westwards and reach near Odisha-West-Bengal coast around May 26 morning. Squally wind speed reaching 60Kmph, IMD said.
