The severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ over the Bay of Bengal is set to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm by the evening of May 25. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the severe Cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ over East Central Bay of Bengal moved North-Northwestwards with a speed of about 10 kilometers per hour in the past 6 hours. At 5:30 AM this morning, the cyclonic storm lay centered about 320 kilometers South-Southeast of Paradip and 430 kilometers South-Southeast of Balasore coast of Odisha.
The effects of the cyclonic storm were witnessed over several coastal districts, where heavy downpour was seen since the early hours of May 25. Twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have also started experiencing rainfall and winds.
