Incident 1: Engineering Student Stabs Girlfriend Over Suspected Rift in Palnadu

A tragic murder was reported on Friday morning near Chintapalli in the Karampudi mandal of Palnadu district.

  • The Suspect & Victim: Both the accused, identified as Bala Saidulu, and the victim were pursuing their B.Tech degrees at a private engineering college in Guntur and had been in a relationship for some time.
  • The Motive: According to preliminary police investigations, Saidulu suspected that his girlfriend had been intentionally avoiding him recently.
  • The Crime: Saidulu reportedly called the victim to Chintapalli under the pretext of resolving their issues. During an intense argument, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her repeatedly, killing her on the spot before fleeing. Local police have registered a case and initiated a search operation to apprehend him.

Incident 2: Drunk Driving Horror in Rajamahendravaram; CM Naidu Steps In

In a separate incident that came to light from Rajamahendravaram, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed law enforcement to ensure maximum legal punishment against two intoxicated engineering students who ran over medicos outside a shopping mall.

What Transpired Outside the Mall:

On Tuesday night, Dr. Priyanka (28), a postgraduate dermatology student at GSL Medical College, was leaving Prasad Aditya Mall as a pillion rider on a scooter with her colleague, Umesh.

Two drunk engineering students—identified as Suravarapu Daswanth and Andrew Joseph Edwards—had earlier been denied entry to the mall by security staff due to their intoxicated condition. After getting into a heated altercation with security guards, the duo stormed off to the parking cellar and drove their vehicle out rashly.

Near the exit gate, the car struck the medical students' scooter from behind. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated, hitting the two-wheeler again and running over Dr. Priyanka before speeding away from the scene.

Current Status:

  • Medical Condition: Dr. Priyanka suffered severe, traumatic head injuries and was rushed to a local hospital before being shifted to a super-specialty facility in Hyderabad, where doctors declared her brain-dead. Her colleague Umesh sustained minor injuries.
  • Government Action: CM Naidu reviewed the case with top officials, expressing deep grief over Dr. Priyanka's condition.
