The Multi-Front Escalation: Human Shields, Airstrikes, and the Looming Threat of Total Infrastructure Obliteration

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that more than 14 million Iranians have declared readiness to sacrifice their lives in defence of the country, as the conflict intensifies.

The statement reflects a broader effort by Tehran to project national unity and resolve amid mounting military pressure. Reports indicate the government has also been encouraging civilian mobilisation and signalling a willingness to sustain a prolonged confrontation.

Pezeshkian added that he personally shares that commitment, framing the conflict in existential terms. The rhetoric comes alongside continued strikes, rising casualties, and a hardening stance by Iran against ceasefire proposals, suggesting further escalation remains likely.
