New Delhi, July 19 (newsalert24x7): A 10-year-old boy from the Garia area on the southern outskirts of Kolkata has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital after testing positive for Covid-19. According to attending pediatricians, the child is currently stable and remains under continuous medical supervision.

The boy was rushed to the hospital on Saturday presenting symptoms of high fever, persistent cold, cough, and mild shortness of breath. Subsequent diagnostic imaging revealed early signs of pneumonia in his right lung, following which a swab test confirmed a SARS-CoV-2 infection.

In line with standard pediatric protocols for viral infections, doctors have placed the young patient on supportive medical care rather than heavy antibiotics.

"The child had been suffering from fever, cold, and cough for the last three to four days. An X-ray confirmed pneumonia signs in his right lung, and the viral test came back positive," explained Pediatrician Dr. Saheli Dasgupta. "Instead of antibiotics, he is receiving continuous medical support, including nebulisation. His mother has also been isolated with him and will undergo testing shortly."
